OPW Engineered Systems

opw s pageFor more than 60 years, OPW Engineered Systems has provided innovative solutions for some of the most challenging liquid handling applications. They take pride in their ability to custom design and manufacture swivel joints, loading arms, quick disconnect and dry disconnect fittings, and site view indicators for specialized applications.

They pioneered the development of systems designed to load and unload petroleum products for rail car and tank truck applications. Today, the company also manufactures custom-designed loading and unloading systems to safely and efficiently handle aggressive/critical chemicals and by-products.

Quality Control for Dependable Operation

Their manufacturing and testing procedures meet or exceed industry standards. All loading arm assemblies are rigorously tested to ensure high quality. CNC equipment is used to machine all critical dimensions within precise tolerances to ensure that each product meets their rigid engineering specifications. As with every other part of their product, welding is an important quality factor.

Their welders are certified to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX. Additional testing, including radiography as well as material certifications, can be provided to meet your specific requirements. Special exterior surface preparation and painting are also available.

Their design efforts are supported by a state-of-the-art CAD system for faster, more accurate responses to your technical requests.

Quick & Dry Disconnect Products

OPW Engineered Systems offers the most complete line of dry disconnect and quick disconnect products in the industry including Autolok™ and the world’s most popular cam and groove system - Kamlok®. These products help keep employees out of harm’s way as well as contain fugitive emissions, transfer VOC’s without product or vapor loss, and further the efforts of responsible environmental management.

The Kamlok® and Autolok™ quick disconnects offer the exclusive Twin-Kam™ arm design featuring a unique detent position for the prevention of accidental releases. The Twin-Kam™ arms are guaranteed for life and also include OPW’s patented Spring-Ring™ feature that keeps the finger rings in the correct position for handling. Autolok™ and Kamlok® couplers and caps come in a wide variety of size and configurations and provide the industry’s safest, sturdiest, quickest coupler system on the market.

Dry Disconnect products prevent spillage from both routine and accidental disconnects. A dry disconnect consists of a built-in valve in the coupler and a spring-loaded poppet in the mating adaptor that automatically closes when disconnected. OPW’s line of dry disconnect products include Drylok™ and the economical cam-and-groove coupler Kamvalok®. Both Drylok™ and Kamvalok® are suitable for a broad range of hazardous liquid transfer applications.

Drylok™ is designed to safely transfer hazardous corrosive, volatile liquids such as acids, solvents and petrochemicals. An interlocking handle averts accidental spills by preventing uncoupling while the valve is open. And the unit’s flat face minimizes fluid loss, further reducing exposure to risk during operation. Drylok™ is ideal for all kinds of hazardous fluids where product loss is a problem, such as high-pressure lines, high flow rates, slurries, and gases.

Kamvalok® Dry Disconnect Couplings are considered the standard of the industry and are used at liquid transfer points where product loss could occur. Kamvaloks® provide a reliable solution to prevent spillage during connection or disconnection. They are particularly well suited for handling petroleum products, solvents, Ag-chemicals, vegetable oils, detergents and many acids and caustics.

Parker Supply Company can help you determine the type of coupling most suitable for your specific application. Contact one of our applications specialists or customer service representatives for assistance.

Expansion Joints & Metal Hose

Frequently, thermal expansion, equipment movement, vibration or pressure pulsation can cause movement in a piping system. When flexibility for this movement cannot be designed into the piping system itself, an expansion joint is the ideal solution. Expansion joints are devices used to allow movement in a piping system while containing pressure and the medium running through it. They are an important part of many piping and ducting systems and are usually considered to be critical components of the systems within which they are installed. They typically fall into 3 general categories: Metal, Rubber, and Fabric and are usually designed for specific applications to:
arr
Absorb Pipe Movement or Stress
arr
Reduce System Noise
arr
Isolate Mechanical Vibration
arr
Compensate for Alignment or Offset Issues
arr
Eliminate Electrolysis or Electrolytic Action
arr
Protect Against Start-Up or Surge Forces

 Metal Expansion Joints

hyspan s page

Metal expansion joints are used for most piping systems handling liquids or for systems with operating pressures significantly above atmospheric. These products include internally and externally pressurized as well as pressure balanced bellows expansion joints. Configurations include single or dual bellows, tied universals, hinges, and gimbals. Rectangular expansion joints are available for low pressure or full vacuum service. Other products also available include metal bellows pump connectors, flexible metal hose connectors, packed slip style expansion joints, compensators and pipe guides.

Rubber Expansion Joints
proco s page

Proco Products, Inc. is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of piping and ducting system expansion joints. We offer the most complete line of rubber and molded PFA expansion joints, fabric fan connectors, braided flexible hose assemblies and low torque sealing gaskets to the piping industry.

Fabric Expansion Joints

Fabric expansion joints are often used for high temperature gas applications to reduce time between maintenance intervals and minimize leaking which reduces fugitive emissions of pollutants. Typical fabric expansion joints are made from an elastomer such as Neoprene, EPDM, silicone or fluoroelastomer, reinforced with fibers or fabric made from polyamide, aramid, glass or metal wire. Multilayer expansion joints for high-temperature applications are more complex.

Steam Traps

There are many factors that influence how well a steam trap can do its job getting condensate, air and carbon dioxide out of the steam system as quickly as they accumulate. If it's not matched to the application, sized correctly and installed appropriately, your steam system won’t get maximum value from a trap…no matter how good the trap itself is!

When properly integrated into the system, however, a steam trap will provide:

  • Minimal steam loss
  • Long life and dependable operation
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Air venting
  • Carbon dioxide venting
  • Operation against back pressure
  • Freedom from dirt problems

Non-Repairable

Drip and Tracer Type Steam Trap-
Yarway's Drip and Tracer Type Steam Traps provide discharge of condensate from steam line drip, steam tracing, turbine drains, and soot blowers in light to medium processes. They can be repairable or non-repairable.

process thermostatic
Process Thermostatic Steam Trap-
Thermostatic traps react to changes in temperature and discriminate very well between steam and cooler non-condensible gases. They can rapidly purge air from a system, especially on cold start ups.

process thermodynamic
Process Thermodynamic Type Steam Trap-
Thermodynamic traps are phase detectors - they discriminate between condensate and steam. The primary advantage to thermodynamic in process applications is the hot-running design and responsiveness to load changes.
